Existing homes can benefit from the extra protection of wall insulation, but it can be a formidable task retrofitting a building without disturbing existing drywall, plaster, wiring, and all the rest of the materials that makes up a home’s interiors. If you’re interested in installing wall insulation but worry that your home will be torn up in the retrofitting process, never fear! Installing insulation in walls can be a simple, non-invasive project by using injection wall foam insulation. In fact, wall foam insulation is more effective than pretty much every other current type of insulation.

How Spray Foam Insulation Works
Spray polyurethane foam, or SPF as its commonly abbreviated, works by mixing two reactive compounds which expand rapidly to fill a space where insulation is needed. The foam provides an air sealed layer of insulation that can easily fill hard to reach areas within walls and seals cracks, joints and seams in walls that may otherwise be difficult to find or reach. Additionally, the foam is flame retardant and provides a moisture barrier. Like properly installed attic insulation, spray foam insulation is very effective at reducing heat transfer. It works by reducing the movement of heat out of your house in the winter or reduces heat moving into the house from the outside during the summer. Spray foam insulation can be added to existing walls, which means you can retrofit an existing home relatively easily and with minimal wall repairs. SPF insulation can easily improve the efficiency of older homes that may have outdated or insufficient insulation.
Injection Wall Foam Insulation from Dimensional Contracting
Our injection foam technicians have the expertise to assess your home’s existing insulation and structure and determine the best way to add insulation inside your walls using injection foam techniques. The typical process of installing wall insulation using injection foam includes drilling small holes (typically 1 inch) in a home’s exterior walls, then injecting non-expanding foam insulation into the inner spaces of the walls.
Our certified spray foam insulation installers can advise you on the entire process, including:
- Identify and recommend the best locations in your home to install SPF to improve efficiency.
- What types of insulation may be needed in the building.
- Explaining the entire process so you understand what to expect in a step by step insulation process.
- Provide a timeline for installation and when you can return to your home after installation if you have to leave during the installation process.
- Any safety precautions of which you may need to be aware such as leaving the home for a certain period of time during the installation process.
- How you can gain tax rebates or credits in your area for improving the utility efficiency of your home and reducing your environmental impact.
Because drilling is typically done between bricks or stone, houses constructed with brick or stone are prime candidates for the added insulation of injection wall foam insulation. However, installing wall insulation can also be done through exterior siding or interior drywall, with the holes being patched up once the job is done.
One of the best parts about installing insulation in walls with injection foam is that generally, we don’t even have to enter your home! Our injection foam technicians will arrive promptly as promised, conduct an assessment of your home, and then complete the job quickly (often in just one day) and thoroughly with no fuss or intrusion on your home life. With very little inconvenience to you, our injection wall foam services will leave you with a thoroughly insulated home that can save you up to 53% on your energy bills!
Many of our testimonials compliment us on our clean up and professional installation. Our insulation installers provide you with the opportunity to review the work and will provide a full clean up of the installation area.
